Okay, I'll admit it - I probably don't take as much care of my skin as I should. In fact - and this is probably blasphemous to some of you - all I do is wash my face in the shower. That's it. Shocking, I know.

But all that changed when I got my June Bellabox - there's so many fabulous high-end products in there this month that I simply had to give this skincare thing a shot. So I've adopted a proper three-step skincare regime, and it's an absolutely luxurious one.

1. Cleanse. I already do this, but the classy bottle of shu uemura's White Efficient Gentle Cleansing Oil I've got in my box is a definite upgrade from my regular drugstore cleanser. This hot new product is oil-based, so it helps remove makeup more thoroughly, and even works on the most stubborn waterproof makeup; at the same time, it won't strip your skin of its natural oils, so it's not as drying as soap-based cleansers. It also contains natural mito-white complex and vitamin C to brighten your complexion and prevent melanin accumulation in the skin.

It was my first time using a cleansing oil instead of a foaming soap on my face, so it felt strange (and oily) at first. There was a slight oil smell as well, which faded pretty quickly. But I've gotta say, I was completely won over by the time I stepped out of the shower - my skin already felt softer and smoother, and looked brighter too! I can't wait to try shu's award-winning Fresh Pore Clarifying Gentle Cleansing Oil after I'm done with this one - it promises to clear clogged pores and get rid of those nasty blackheads.

2. Tone. As author Hans Christian Andersen once said, “Just living is not enough... One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.” There's no easy way to bottle sunshine or freedom, but you'll find the little flower right here in Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner.

This best-selling product is one I've wanted to try for a long time, but could never afford. It contains natural herbal and floral extracts, and even whole calendula petals that are still inserted by hand, just as they were 5 decades ago when the toner was first formulated. Calendula extract is known for its healing and anti-inflammatory properties, and is especially gentle on delicate skin.

One thing I immediately realised as I poured this toner onto a cotton pad was that I wouldn't be having the satisfaction I usually get from seeing the makeup and grime come off - it's a yellow liquid, which makes the dirt rather hard to see. Its colour hardly seems important compared to how soothing it felt on my face, though, especially when it made my skin feel - and I hadn't imagined it was possible at this point - even softer and cleaner than before.

3. Moisturise. I'm fortunate enough not to have visible wrinkles (yet), but it never hurts to start preventing them early! Duchess Marden's Damascena Anti-Wrinkle Serum is a favourite of customers for its anti-aging benefits. Containing many natural ingredients including jojoba oil, hazelnut oil, shea butter, flax seed oil, rose hip seed oil and rose oil, it packs quite the punch as a moisturiser too.

A few drops was all it took to help my face feel relaxed and soothed at the end of a long day, and I'm loving the light, pleasant fragrance of this serum - it makes drifting off to sleep such a decadent experience.

Now that I've actually tried it, a three-step skincare regime doesn't sound that daunting after all - especially with such luxe products to pamper myself with. But I bet there are plenty of you out there who skip steps too - do you? 'Fess up in the comments!
